'Twas the morning after Thanksgiving and outside the store
all shoppers were impatiently waiting, waiting to open the door.
Children were yawning, still sleepy from bed
their noses running, chapped from the cold and all red.
When suddenly, at the front of the line, there was a loud clatter
everyone stretched their necks, to see what was the matter.
The store doors were opening and there were cheers and wails,
Because everyone knew that there were going to hit the great sales!

Ever wonder why the day after Thanksgiving has been called "Black Friday"? It's not because people turn into sales-zombies either.
It's because retailers jump out of the red and into the black on their sales books.
That's fine and dandy for them. But what about the denizens who line up hours before the stores open? Below is a survival guide for Black
Friday.
Here are tips to help you survive the hustle and
bustle of the day after Thanksgiving shopping:
Dress
comfortably. Women, put your high heels back in the closet and wear comfortable
shoes.
Pick up a bottle of water at your
local grocery
store to keep yourself hydrated. Even though you might lose those pesky few
ounces of water weight to fit into those size 2 jeans that are on sale, it won't
matter if you're passed out from dehydration!
Shop alone or with someone who knows how to shop. Nothing more annoying than someone who holds you
back rather than covering your back.
Get enough rest and wake up early, but not too early.
No need to fall asleep in line and miss the sales! Make sure you have your
alarm clock set.
Have a shopping list ready in hand. Don't bury it deep into your purse where you have to waste 10 valuable minutes searching for it. Also, without a shopping list, you might get caught up in the frenzy and forget what you came for!
Leave the kids at home. I am serious on this one. With all the chaos, you don't want to lose your children amongst thousands of people. Have grandma watch them or hire a
babysitter.
-
Of course, after all the shopping, you will be too tired to
cook. You can try a kid-friendly
restaurant, or if you're on a tight budget try a restaurant that is offering deals,
or pick up some take-out
or just go home and order a pizza.

What your neighbors are saying
Stgenesius
says, "I get serious cravings for their signature Maggiano salad. It's my favorite item on the menu consisting of lettuce, crumbled blue cheese, bacon, red onion, and the most delicious dressing. They also have excellent wine choices and martinis. The chocolate martini is a treat. For dessert, I am a big fan of their
Creme Brulée and tiramisu. Not very inventive main dishes but traditional pasta dishes. This place has not lost it's popularity, so get a reservation or be prepared to wait hours."

says, "I don't know how they keep their prices so low -- most items end up being even less than what they're marked. They have the broadest selection of picture frames that I've found anywhere in
[Atlanta]."
