New Year's resolutions can be both troublesome and rewarding. Everyone enjoys making them. But how many of us actually keep them?
Here are a few ways to improve your chances for results you can measure.
|
- Don't make a resolution you know you can't keep.
- Be specific. Don't say, "I want to lose weight." Instead, make this goal: "I want to lose 5 pounds a month so I look hot in my new swimsuit on the fourth of July."
-
Write down your goals and post them somewhere you'll see them regularly — like on your refrigerator.
- Take action immediately. Make important appointments with a doctor, nutritionist or counselor if, for example, your goal is to lose weight.
- Practice new behaviors that encourage success.
- Set goals and reward yourself for partial successes.
